Christmas Crochet Creations
Hello Readers!
I LOVE gifting my creations - if you’ve been following my crafting journey you’ll know that most of what I make is for other people. I find it especially rewarding when I can make while also thinking of the recipient - it infuses everything I make with extra love and good vibes!
The only part of it that I don’t like is not being able to share the process, or the final product, until the gift has been received. But now with it being the New Year I can freely share my Christmas creations! Apparently this year's theme was ornaments and stars!
I made this red poinsettia star for my mother-in-law, along with some hand warmers (that I neglected to photograph). Check my Instagram to see the crafty gift she gave me in return!
Last year for their birthdays I made my parents some stress relievers in the shape of a sun and a moon. So to complete the set my brother received his star for Christmas! I wrote a little prose to go with each one to remind them to not allow their stresses to get to them.
This star is the same style as the one I made for my brother, but with a strand to hang it up for my bestie Margot! And I made up this tree motif as a gift for her fiancé, Greg.
The last christmas star I made was this lovely variegated grey one for my friend Jeremy - and his wife, my bestie Crystal, received this angel ornament.
These two also got another star shaped gift this year - though not for Christmas and not really for them! On the 5th of January they welcomed their baby boy to the family - and for him I made this cluster stitch star blanket in Caron Baby Cakes.

My mom also loved the look of my Celtic Cinch Back Pack and requested a laptop case with that stitch - so I did that too!
For my friend Colleen I created an icicle twist ornament, and for my man Logan I made a snowflake!
But that's not all!
Logan and I have recently been playing D&D with my brother and a couple of our friends, and Logan is our DM.
So I decided he needed an amigurumi D20 (or 20 sided dice for those out of the loop). This too I had to make up as I went along - and it did require some fiddling to get it to a usable state (Yes you could actually use this in a game of D&D). All in all, it turned out great and he loved it! It's trickiest to make things for people who live with you!
After I felt the relief of finishing all my gifts, I still had the urge to crochet! So I made some gifts for myself too!
I was out at Michael’s Craft Store with Margot and I saw this beautiful colourway in Impeccable by Loops&Threads. Its called Charcoal Tweed - a black yarn with rainbow flecks throughout! I knew I had to get it, but I could tell it needed to be broken up with a contrast colour, so I started to compare the flecks with the other Impeccable yarns and stumbled on the colourway Citron. Green is my FAVOURITE colour - and the lime and black just vibrated off each other - a match made in heaven! I came up with this simple striped slouchy beanie - but I neglected to write down what I did! I may have to reverse engineer this pattern to share with all of you!
The other gift I made myself I will DEFINITELY be releasing the pattern for - Sock Monkey Fingerless Gloves! If you know me you know I love me some fingerless gloves - when I discovered I had the appropriate colours in Patons Classic Wool I knew what I had to do! I whipped up this project over a weekend while Logan and I were visiting his family. My last project of 2018! I added a bit of texture to the glove with the 3rd loop hdc method - which also makes it extra cozy! I have basically been wearing them everyday since!
Did you give any special people in your life a handmade gift this year? Or did you make some selfish crafty gifts for yourself like I did? Let me know in the comments below - part of the fun is showing off after all!
Until next time,
I’m Kat and that’s that!
