About Me

My name is Kat Brennan and I am the writer and creator of Katlike Creations! I created this blog to showcase my work, and for sharing tips and tricks for crafters of all skill levels.

My creations may not (always) have anything to do with cats, and they certainly aren't agile or "cat-like", but because they are made by me -  they are Katlike!

I've always been artistic; at a young age my focus was drawing and colours. My mother would often try to interest me in the work she did with crochet and embroidery, but back then I didn't have the patience for it. I maintained my love of art all through high school, and went to college for visual arts, as well as cosmetics.

It was at this time, I started to take up the crafts my mother taught me in my spare time and came to the conclusion that I enjoy creating too much to let it be only a hobby. I hope to be able to support myself and my family with my crafts and my blog will be a stepping stone towards that future.

The Kat Behind The Creations

I live on the shore of lake Ontario, Canada with my fiance, Logan, and our 3 cats: ApolloNathan and Pickles. Logan and I met in college and started dating after our first year. When I went onto the cosmetics program he ventured to the field of video game design, where he learned all about 3D modeling. He is using these skills to start his own 3D printing business! Check him out at @3delightful

I have some other hobbies besides crafting, I've been teaching myself to play acoustic guitar as well as ukulele. The sound of ukulele always brightens my day and makes me so cheerful! Practicing has become another daily habit for me, and I hope to get some more recordings done. You can check out my uke tunes at: soundcloud.com/kaayteabee

I am pretty much a huge geek. I love Dr Who, Steven Universe, Good Omens, She-Ra, Avatar, and many many others. Two of my cats are even named after cartoon characters from Metalocalypse; Nathan Explosion and Pickles the Drummer.

One of my biggest influences is David Bowie and his music. The way he has always been setting trends and staying true to his creative self makes him one of my muses. Another huge influence on me, and the way I create, is Vincent Van Gogh. I have been a fan of his works for as long as I can remember, and I have always been blown away by his use of colour and line and form. After learning more about his life and becoming familiar with the way he worked, I knew I had to somehow channel this into my own creativity. I've done this by always telling myself that I may not be appreciated in this lifetime, but that my creations and the way they make people feel will be eternal.
